For the last two years, I've been taking part in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge over at Long and Short Reviews.
The first link will take you to the list of topics; the second one goes
to the homepage, where you can find a post with everyone's responses each
week. Feel free to join in!
Today's prompt is "TV shows I binge-watched" and man, that's been a while.
I can list off shows that you'd think I might binge-watch: The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica... but I haven't. In fact, it's been a while since I've felt like I could commit the time and attention to binge-watch anything, and that's in spite of truly excellent recommendations that have been thrown my way.
I think the closest I got was the first season of Lucifer, a while back. I've the first season of Rick & Morty, but that was definitely staggered rather than binged. Way back when Firstborn was first born, Beautiful Wife and I binge-watched a lot of Buffy and Stargate. I've put on things that I watched before, like Blackadder or Upstart Crow, to keep me company whilst sorting laundry. Other than that...
I really don't. My schedule just isn't built that way.
But that's not to say that I don't see the appeal, so leave a link to your answers in the comments if you're so inclined!
When I was younger and had small kids there wasn't a lot of time for TV then.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like being an adult consists of an awful lot of just trying to keep up with everything that needs to be done, doesn't it?
DeleteBuffy was on my list, too!
ReplyDeleteSomeday when your kids are older and you have the time for TV again, I think you'd love The Good Place.
I've seen bits of it, and yes -- I think I would.
DeleteI have trouble finding the time to binge anything myself, but I do tend to watch a whole season of something before moving on. The only problem with your kids growing up is that they hog the TV!
ReplyDeleteMy post
They do, rather -- and my time! I lost about an hour and a half just to Secondborn today, between following up on his math test and getting his bicycle back in working condition.
DeleteI don't binge ... but I do have shows I've watched from start to finish and loved. In my world "binge watching" means committing to a show enough to watch (and like) every episode. Because, really, who has time to sit for hours watching TV?
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of the other way around? Like, if I'm going to do it at all, I'm probably better off doing it all at once. But yeah, I'd definitely count it a binge if I managed to go through a whole show.
DeleteI have to agree with Marianne. I don't have the time to just watch a show for hours. But those you listed are some good ones, I'm told.
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely recommend them, for either a full-on binge or an extended binge.
DeleteI generally wait to binge-watch shows till the weekend / holidays come on. Then I go on a rampage, with literally a few hours of sleep. Not healthy! But then again, it's so much fun while it lasts. Black Adder is an old favorite of mine, and certainly Game of Thrones. But I haven't watched Buffy yet. A glaring error that needs to be corrected :-)
ReplyDeleteWednesday Weekly was a very recent discovery for me, but these prompts are awesome.

Welcome aboard!
DeleteI need to watch Blackadder again. I think I know it by heart.
ReplyDeleteI think I said this earlier, but take a look at Upstart Crow if you haven't. Somewhat similar feel.
DeleteBinge watching does have its time and place, and sometimes in the patterns of our life, there isn't a time and place for it. I like Stargate. So much better than the movie.
ReplyDeleteThe movie was fun, but the series had time to make it so much richer.
