Prompt: have you ever met anyone famous?
Not as such, and the way my brain works I frequently look at billboards with famous people on them and have no idea who they are. I think the closest I've ever come was a book signing with Clive Barker, and that was more a brief, predesigned interaction than an actually meeting. (Though he did agree to sign our books to the names of our Nightbreed characters.)
I think I just keep the wrong sort of company to meet anyone famous. What about you? Any good stories?
Oh, funny! I recognize some famous people if they’ve been around since I was a kid, but I get stumped by billboards, too.
ReplyDeleteBook signings count, you do get to meet them.
ReplyDeleteI agree, book signings count. I also think we might people who know people all the time. We just don't really don't know. Seven degrees of separation. We could find our way there.
ReplyDeleteI've met a few authors at SF conventions, including Steve Jackson of Steve Jackson game. I've also Nicholas Courtney (the actor who played the Brigadier on Dr. Who) and PZ Myers, evolutionary biologist.
ReplyDeleteI would certainly have valued meeting Clive Barker. I've never been to a book signing but I'd like to.
