Not much to say... (Open Thread)

Weekend trip left me worn out and a little sick. Better now, but we're up to our eyeballs in projects at work. Regular blogging will resume tomorrow, probably with the next installment of They Are Legion.

Consider this an open thread. Suggested topic: What's your favorite method/model of time travel? Books, TV, movies, and comics are all valid sources.

  1. Well, I'm going to have to go with the shear brute force approach used in Star Trek TOS. Slingshot around the sun at massive speed..

  2. I'm going with Homer Simpson's toaster. You get about 60 seconds to mess with prehistory, and then see what good times await as a result of your meddling. I could do that for the rest of my life and never get bored.

  3. My personal favorite is found in Roger Zelazny's Roadmarks, where those with the knack for it can find a sort of crosstime highway that they simply call "the road". The road branches and curves, offering exits to alternate futures - and alternate pasts.

  4. My favorite is in a book by Dean Koontz called Lighting. When time travel occurred in the book lighting always accompanied it.

  5. Ooh, I remember Lightning! Haven't read it in... I think we're talking decades, plural, here... but I remember that. Not my all time favorite Koontz book - that was probably Twilight Eyes - but interesting and fun.

  6. I'll have to check that out, but I like Dragon Tears and the Odd Thomas series. :-)

Feel free to leave comments; it lets me know that people are actually reading my blog. Interesting tangents and topic drift just add flavor. Linking to your own stuff is fine, as long as it's at least loosely relevant. Be civil, and have fun!
