Ask me anything

I've got absolutely nothing for today. So, if you're bored and want to ask me questions, I'll do my best to answer them. Or you can suggest topics. Or recommend books. Whatever, really. Fire away!

  1. I have some ideas for you. :)

You don't seem to mention your wife very often on this blog. Do you have any funny or interesting stories about her (that's she'd be okay with you sharing, of course)?

What is your idea of a perfect vacation?

What is the most unusual story idea you've ever come up with? If you have used it, can we read it? If you haven't used it yet, why not?

When you were a teenager, what did you think your life would be like at this point? How many of the goals you had back then have you reached? How many of those goals have changed over the years?

You have several old blogs that you haven't updated in ages. Do you think you'll ever return to any of them? How do you decide when it's time to move on to a new site?

What are a few things that your readers would be most surprised to learn about you if they ever met you in person? How would you compare the person you are in real life to your online persona?

  2. Hm...

A lot of the stories about my wife are more hers to tell than mine, but that's a good point: I really haven't written about her much lately. Some of that is because a lot of what's occupying her attention right now is work-related, and a lot of it might not be safe to share (even pseudonymously). Some of it is because the things that I most savor seem pretty trivial when you write them down: for example, we make tea for each other every morning. Whoever's up first always makes two cups of tea, even if the other one isn't up yet. That's important to us, but I'm not sure it's particularly interesting or illuminating for anybody else. And most of the other stories relate to the children, and she posts a lot of those on her Facebook page. In the interests of keeping my pseudonym pseudonymous (say that three times fast!) I usually don't reproduce those over here, either.

I love these topic ideas, though. I may take a run at them over the next several days.

Feel free to leave comments; it lets me know that people are actually reading my blog. Interesting tangents and topic drift just add flavor. Linking to your own stuff is fine, as long as it's at least loosely relevant. Be civil, and have fun!
