A bit better

I did get some sleep last night, and - as I suspected - a lot of yesterday's melancholy was a direct result of being tired, stressed out, and slightly ill (hopefully just from allergies). I'm still feeling... delicate, I guess, is a good word for it... this morning, but that's a distinct improvement.

And now, back to getting things done.

  1. Glad you're doing better -- I have a wee case of the delicates myself brought on by age and whatnots, and it can get icky.

  2. Yeah, it's amazing how much a good night's sleep can change things.

Yesterday: "I am slow, stupid, clumsy, tired, old, and basically useless. Also, the world is going to Hell in a handbasket and there is nothing I can do about it."

Today: "Eh, I'm not setting the world on fire, but I'm getting by. And sh*t is getting done."

I really need to make sure that I consistently get enough sleep. The days when I could go without are pretty much gone. I'm pretty sure that's the lesson, here.

  3. Also - what 'age'??? You're like two years older than I am, and I'm only... just a sec... 1973... carry the one...

No, wait, that can't be right.

    How did that happen?

    1. I'm 42, you're clearly 38 to 39, depending on when your birthday falls in the year, so...

Yeah dude, we're aging. And I hate to tell you, but since I turned 40 my body has been rebelling on me. My latest funfest is reflux. The heck? I have always, always had a cast iron stomach. I ate public school food for nearly 20 years (counting time as a student and time as a teacher) for pity's sake! But now, oh no, eat a couple too many Reese's peanut butter eggs and all sorts of misery breaks loose.

On the plus side, it is now very rarely that I'm out somewhere and someone will try to treat me like I'm a kid. Middle age has its perks, and being a fully-recognizable adult is one of 'em.

  4. You're telling me warranty expires next year? Bloody great.

But, yeah - getting older does actually have its advantages.
